Curriculum Intent

A New Curriculum for St Paul's Catholic Primary School!

St Paul's Catholic Primary School, VA, has a history of high results and a strong Curriculum, however with the introduction of the new Education Inspection Framework, we felt that it was a time to be "bold and brave" in line with the vision of Amanda Spielman; we decided to change our Curriculum provision! We agreed, as a staff, to move away from published schemes of work for many of the Foundation Subjects and instead focus on a Curriculum that was localised, personal to St Paul's children and families, and rooted in the wonderful Literature, real-life experiences and primary artefacts available to us. (Mary Myatt) We have spent the last three years planning, shaping and evaluating the lessons we offer to our children. At the heart of our Curriculum is our Catholic Faith. Rooted in the Virtues of St Paul, we strive to improve our academic standards whilst also developing our wider Character Education.

At St Paul's Catholic Primary School, VA, we value the feedback we receive from our pupils. Our pupils asked for more trips, more practical lessons and exciting topics that allowed them to be challenged and tested. The following diagram sets out our vision for how topics will be taught at St Paul's Catholic Primary School, VA, over the next Academic year. We will continue to review, change and improve our learning experiences so that we can offer our children the Outstanding learning journey they deserve. P.Bowker (Headteacher) September 2023
