Year 5 Assembly
This morning's assembly was a whirlwind snippet of the super learning that has been taking place in Year 5 this half term. 'Inspirational people' was the central theme running through the assembly and was very cleverly linked through time travel to the classes guided reading text - 'Harry Potter'. Through some fabulous role play we learnt about many British inspirational people; Emmeline Pankhurst and the 'Suffragettes', Stephen Hawking and Winston Churchill to mention but a few and also worldwide figures that have stood for equality, such as Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Ghandi and Malala Yousafzai. Pupils also shared with us thought provoking readings about St.Paul's letter to the Corinthians and prayers. A rendition of the song 'Something Inside So Strong' was passionately performed by the class, which encouraged us all in our Christian duty to stand up and speak out for what is right. Well done to Year 5 pupils for delivering such a powerful message, a proud moment for many parents and as always thanks for your ongoing support.
