Year 5 enjoyed a busy day learning about so many aspects of our Space topic. We began looking at the planets in our solar system and their distance from the sun. We worked on our scaling skills in Maths - sheets of toilet paper played a big part in our discussions. We created bar graphs using masking tape, then headed outside to model our solar system in the playground.
That was just the morning! After lunch, Oreo cookies helped to enhance our understanding of the phases of the moon. Luckily, we had enough time to work on our shoe box solar system. The room was filled with all manner of craft materials, which eventually made their way to the children's creations. We will be holding onto them for a few weeks for display, then sending them home with the children to share with you.
