St. Paul's celebrating World Book Day

Our belated World Book Day began with a brilliant assembly presented by the pupils in Year 2, all about books. Each child shared with us their favourite book, explaining which parts they enjoyed the most and why. Members of the class entertained the audience with a performance of the traditional tale  - 'Jack and the beanstalk'.  We heard readings from the most important book of all, the bible and the beautiful singing of the Year 2 pupils.  Well done to Year 2 and thank you to all those who came to support.

Parents and grandparents had been invited into school to share a book and read to classes, helping to engage children in a love of reading, many thanks for giving up your free time. During the day the 'Book Swap' gave  pupils the opportunity to bring in a book they had already read and choose a different book, which grabbed their attention. Individual quiet reading time and a whole school write were also part  of the day.
