Fitness Week June 16

Thursday afternoon

Lots of excitement this afternoon about the climbing wall. We were really proud of all the children for having a go even if they were a bit nervous.

Extra well done to Jacob, Martha, Leo and Thomas who reached the top!

Thursday

This morning we had a dance lesson with Miss Natalie and we did some beach themed activities with Mrs Hourigan.

Wednesday

This morning UK Sports coaches came into to school to talk to us about healthy lifestyles. After a fun assembly, we did some games and activities all about making healthy choices. 

To have a healthy lifestyle we must do 3 things:

Eat a healthy diet

Exercise regularly (at least 1 hour a day)

Sleep well (between 9 - 11 hours for a Year 1 child).

After break, we went on our bikes and scooters. There were a few wobbles, bumps and scrapes but overall the children did really well riding around the track and doing some races and relays. 

Afternoon: 

The nurses came in to talk to us about oral health and looking after our teeth! 

We also ran our mile in the afternoon!

Tuesday

Hopefully you all enjoyed early nights as the children were shattered by 3pm.

In the morning we enjoyed some entertainment from Niamh... she was a fantastic singer. Then we ran our 1 mile challenge, some of the children ran more that one mile to support their friends who were struggling and I was really proud of them!

In the afternoon we walked through the woods to the ACA club and played tennis. Danny taught us some tennis skills and tols us about some exciting courses that they run for young children!

What a busy day! We've had a fantastic start to our Fitness week in Year 1. 

This morning we learned lots of new football tricks and skills with Ash Randall (check out his videos on YouTube)

Then Janet from St John Ambulance came to talk to us and being healthy and about being good first-aiders.

This afternoon we ran 1 mile and we are going to do this every day as a challenge. It's 3 and a half laps of both playgrounds and the field!
