Welcome to our School Council Page
Our School Council consists of 12 members which are selected every September following the annual class elections. Prospective candidates from years 2-6 forward a personnal statement outlining their key skills and ideas to be an effective pupil voice for their class.
This provides two representatives from each class, years 2-5, and the Council elects a Joint Chair, Secretary and Treasurer from Year 6.
Meetings are held fortnightly under the direction of our Learning Mentor Mrs Turner, whereby an agreed agenda is followed which has been set by the chairs. Discussions include any issues and ideas that have been raised by members of their class via the suggestion box.
The School Council looks at ways to raise money for charities and improve school facilities. Representatives approach Mrs Cabry with their proposals.
Successful initiatives to date this academic year include:
~creating a half termly house reward system
~ raising funds for Pakistan via a cake stall
~creating a child friendly Race Equality Policy
~improving playground equipment
~Lenten charity initiatives
