Year 5 during computing lessons have created their own games and animations. They had the opportunity to share these with Year 1. All the children had a great time playing and watching the Year 5's programmes.
Computing (new term for ICT) is changing the lives of everyone. Through teaching computing we equip children to participate in a rapidly-changing world where work and leisure activities are increasingly transformed by technology. We enable them to find, explore, analyse, exchange and present information. We also focus on developing the skills necessary for children to be able to use information in a discriminating and effective way. computing skills are a major factor in enabling children to be confident, creative and independent learners.
Control and Programming
We have had a huge focus on coding across the school with children being taught what algorithms are,how to debug/fix problems we may have and being given opportunities to write their own programmes.
Computing After School Club
At the computing after school club we explore robotics, animation, coding, drawing software and film making.

Coding and Robotics at Cardinal Heenan High School
Some children in Year 5 were given the opportunity to go to Cardinal Heenan High School and learn how to code a robot. It was a fun afternoon and some of them nearly managed to programme the robot so it moved successfully around the obstacle course.
